Spaghetti bolognese is a popular dish but the mayor of city it is named after has branded it “fake news”. Virginio Merola, the mayor of Bologna, said: “Spaghetti bolognese doesn’t actually exist, yet it’s famous the world over.” He added: “It’s strange to be famous all over the world for a dish that isn’t ours.”
Punter 'banned for winning too much'
A gambler says his local betting shop has banned him because he was “winning too much”. Michael Bates, 74, trousered over £2,000 in a 12-day purple patch of 48 successes at a Coral’s branch. He says: “I was told I couldn’t come in any more as I was winning too much.” Corals says it is investigating the complaint.
Wallaby-sized dinosaur discovered through fossils
A dinosaur the size of a wallaby has been identified from fossils found along the Australian coast. “We know it would have been a two-legged, quite agile plant-eating dinosaur,” said palaeontologist Matthew Herne of the University of New England, who has spent the past 10 years analysing fossils.
