Bologna mayor says spaghetti bolognese is 'fake news'

Spaghetti bolognese is a popular dish but the mayor of city it is named after has branded it “fake news”. Virginio Merola, the mayor of Bologna, said: “Spaghetti bolognese doesn’t actually exist, yet it’s famous the world over.” He added: “It’s strange to be famous all over the world for a dish that isn’t ours.”
