Strands of Elvis Presley’s hair set to fetch £6,000 at auction

A lock of Elvis Presley’s hair, once swept up and collected by his barber, is expected to fetch up to £6,000 at auction. The strands are being sold by life-long British fan Tom Unwin, who had snapped up the hair in 2010. “I’m selling now because I’ve had so much enjoyment from showing my Elvis memorabilia to friends over the years,” he said. “I would like others to experience that same enjoyment.”

Water stain shaped like Virgin Mary ‘protects from Covid’

A damp patch found in the car park of a Bogata bakery has gained the reputation of offering protection from Covid-19. The stain, in the shape of the Virgin Mary, has become a place of worship. A local resident said: “Every day, between 50 and 60 people come here. They visit the spot and pray, and somehow it is really important for them and us.”

Turkmen president honours favourite dog 

The president of Turkmenistan has celebrated his favourite breed of dog with a giant golden statue. Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov unveiled the 19ft statue of the alabay, or central Asian shephed dog, in the capital Ashgabat. This is not the first time the breed has been honoured by the president - last year he published a book devoted to the alabay.
