Two fisherman have made a grisly discovery on an island in the Amur River, near Khabarovsk in the far east of Russia, when they stumbled upon a severed hand. Police were called and a search uncovered a bag containing 56 hands, some of them missing fingers. Officials believe the hands are “illegally dumped biological waste” from a forensic medical institution.
Mother jailed after filming child’s ‘first bong’
An Australian woman has been jailed for nine months after she filmed her 11-year-old son’s first experience smking marijuana and posted the footage online. The 29-year-old woman admitted in court to smoking the drug, and that she had given the marijuana to her son in a “misguided attempt” to get him to stop using it himself.

Man blows up kitchen trying to kill cockroaches
An Australian man is recovering in hospital after trying to use insect spray and a cigarette lighter to make a flamethrower to kill cockroaches in his kitchen. Police took the opportunity to warn people not to ignore instructions on aerosol sprays as “failure to follow them can result in extreme damage”.
