Russian woman marries her briefcase

A woman from Moscow has married a briefcase. Rain Gordon, who says she has always been interested in inanimate objects, calls her husband Gideon. She says she first met Gideon back in 2015 in a hardware store. “I had no idea that we would end up together,” she said. “I admired how he looked, but I didn't think anything more. But then I started liking Gideon for more than that. I slowly realised I was starting to fall in love.”

Man approaches jet and mounts wing

Police in Las Vegas have arrested a man who they said they found clinging to the wing of an Alaska Airlines jet on the tarmac. Online footage shows the man shimmying along the wing as passengers stare out the window. The airline said the plane had been preparing for take-off when the man approached it on the tarmac. He was arrested and the jet returned to the gate for a full inspection.

‘Christmas star’ to be visible from Earth

A rare “Christmas star” will be visible from Earth for the first time in 800 years later this month. Jupiter and Saturn are expected appear to merge and create a single bright point in the cosmos on 21 December, the longest night of the year. NASA said the two planets have “gradually moved closer to each other” in the last few months and will be just a “fifth of a full moon apart” at their closest point.
