An elderly woman was assaulted with a tub of butter after telling a man not to jump the queue at a Co-op store in Oxfordshire. Thames Valley Police are seeking information about the attacker, who left the 74-year-old victim with swelling and severe bruising to her face.

Hundreds of buffaloes chased to death by lions

More than 400 buffaloes are believed to have drowned in a river on the border between Botswana and Namibia after being chased by a pride of lions. The spooked animals stampeded towards the Chobe River, trampling on each other and falling into the water from the river’s steep banks. Officials have said the buffalo meat will be donated to the local community.

Burglar with no trousers falls through restaurant roof

Police in Alabama are searching for a man who fell through the roof of a Waffle House during a botched burglary. The 27-year-old used his trousers to tie the bathroom door closed, before attempting to break into the office upstairs via the ceiling. Officers say he fell through the roof of the dining area, before fighting with customers and fleeing the scene half-naked.
