Premier League transfer news: Coutinho, Hazard, Pogba, Alexis, Tielemans

With Antoine Griezmann set to join Barca will Philippe Coutinho return to the EPL?

Premier League transfer news and rumours

Coutinho out in the cold

There’s a “cold war” brewing between Barcelona and their Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho.

Spanish newspaper SPORT reports that Barca want to sell the 26-year-old after he failed to impress since joining from Liverpool in January 2018.

Linked with Manchester United and Chelsea, Coutinho won’t be allowed to leave for less than £86.8m. But both his agent and club “have to work together”, says SPORT, to enable the exit to happen.

Griezmann set for Barca

One step closer to De Ligt deal

Another player who is likely to join Barcelona is Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt. The 19-year-old has been linked with most of Europe’s biggest clubs but it’s now only a matter of time until Barca confirm that he will join Ajax team-mate Frenkie de Jong at the Camp Nou next season. (Marca)

Hazard’s fears

French newspaper L’Equipe reports that Chelsea star Eden Hazard is expected to sign for Real Madrid in an £86m deal and an announcement will be made after the Europa League final on 29 May. However, The Sun says that Hazard fears Chelsea’s transfer ban could leave his move to Real “in tatters”. The Blues could keep Hazard for the final year of his contract then lose him on a free transfer in summer 2020.

Real make move for Pogba

As well as Eden Hazard Real Madrid also want to sign Paul Pogba and the Spanish giants have made an “initial move” for the Manchester United midfielder. Pogba is “desperate to move to the Bernabeu” and United are open to selling the Frenchman in a deal that could be worth £150m. (Independent

City hunt Foxes

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is keen on signing Leicester defenders Harry Maguire and Ben Chilwell. Also on Guardiola’s hit-list is Juventus right-back Joao Cancelo.

Tielemans in demand

Sessegnon wants Spurs move

Fulham star Ryan Sessegnon wants to sign for Tottenham this summer. The 18-year-old is keen on a move to Spurs because he “wants to stay in the capital, play Champions League football and, crucially, work under Mauricio Pochettino”. Sessegnon has also been linked with Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus. (London Evening Standard

Martial set to stay

Ole’s furious

While Anthony Martial looks safe the same can’t be said about the rest of his team-mates. After their 2-0 home loss against Cardiff last weekend a furious Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer threatened to sell half of the team. (The Sun)

£12m pay-off for Alexis

The Daily Mirror is one of several newspapers which leads with a story on the future of Manchester United forward Alexis Sanchez. It’s claimed that United are desperate to get rid and will be prepared to pay the Chilean star £12m not to play for them next season. Inter Milan are reportedly interested in taking Alexis on a season-long loan and United will pay half of his £500,000-a-week wages to send him to Italy.
