Vincent Kompany’s departure has left a giant hole in Manchester City’s defence and squad for next season.
After lifting the FA Cup at the weekend the City captain announced that he is taking over as player-manager of Belgian side Anderlecht.

With Kompany now gone who could City target to replace their skipper? The Daily Mail reports that Leicester and England defender Harry Maguire is Pep Guardiola’s No.1 choice to take Kompany’s place.
Gundogan to reopen talks
Ilkay Gundogan is ready to reopen contract talks with Manchester City following the club’s historic treble-winning season. The midfielder told German newspaper Bild: “Now is enough time to reflect on the situation and to take up the talks again more intensely with the club.” (ESPN)
Mbappe hints at PSG exit
Kylian Mbappe has admitted that he has come to a “turning point” in his career. The Paris Saint-Germain striker suggests that his time in the French capital could be coming to an end and this has put Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester City on “red alert”. (Daily Express)
Carragher: Reds should bring back Coutinho
Former Liverpool captain Jamie Carragher believes the Anfield club should re-sign Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona if the opportunity arises. Carragher said: “I wouldn’t say I would be actively going to get him, but if there was a possibility of bringing Coutinho back for decent money, and Barca wanted to cut their losses a little bit because it hasn’t worked out, then I’d do that.” (Liverpool Echo)
Bale not in Zidane’s plans

Pogba must request move
If Paul Pobga is to make a dream move to Real Madrid this summer then the midfielder must hand in a transfer request at Manchester United. While Old Trafford executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is determined to keep Pogba it’s claimed that the Frenchman must demand a move if he’s to leave. (The Sun)

Gayle to leave West Brom
West Bromwich Albion will not sign Dwight Gayle permanently after failing to win promotion to the Premier League. Gayle has impressed this season on loan from Newcastle but the Championship club’s technical director Luke Dowling said: “We will pay Premier League contracts but only when we are back in the Premier League. I know it won’t be the news Albion fans want to hear, but they need to trust us and know we are doing everything right for this football club.” (BBC Sport)
Casting an eye on Felix
Scouts from Manchester United and Atletico Madrid watched Joao Felix in action for Benfica on Saturday. The 19-year-old, who scored in the 4-1 win against Santa Clara, has also been linked with Juventus and Manchester City. (ESPN via Record)
Carrasco wants return to Europe
Yannick Carrasco is keen on a return to Europe and this could see Arsenal make another move for the 25-year-old. The Belgium midfielder, who currently plays for Chinese Super League club Dalian Yifang, said: “There was interest from Arsenal and I had a lot of teams in January giving me the chance to go back to Europe, but here the president said it was difficult to go then. Maybe this summer it is possible. If it is a good thing and I want to go, maybe I can speak with the president.” (The Sun)
Kante to PSG?
Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante is considering a move to Paris Saint-Germain. According to reports the World Cup winner is “tempted” by a switch to the French champions. (talkSPORT)
