Spurs close in on Ndombele

Tottenham Hotspur are set to smash their transfer record to sign Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele. 

The Sun reports that Spurs have been given the “green light” to seal a £60m deal for the 22-year-old, who has been hailed as the “new N’Golo Kante”, his France international team-mate.

While the Sun says that Ndombele will cost Tottenham £60m, Sky Sports News reports that the fee will be £65m. Either way, Ndombele’s deal will smash their previous record outlay of £35m for Davinson Sanchez two years ago. 

Ndombele is expected to undergo a medical in the next few days before signing a five-year deal with Tottenham. 

Poch wants Leeds star Clarke

Tanguy Ndombele is not the only player who could be signing for Tottenham this summer. Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is determined to land Leeds United winger Jack Clarke and the 18-year-old could move clubs for £8.5m. (Daily Mail)

Torreira happy at Arsenal

Despite reports linking him with a move back to Italy with AC Milan, Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira is happy at the Emirates. Sources close to the Uruguayan have suggested that the Milan speculation has been “wildly exaggerated”. (The Daily Telegraph)

Perfect ten then out for Silva 

Manchester City midfielder David Silva has revealed that he will leave the club at the end of the 2019-20 season. Spanish playmaker Silva said his tenth year at City will be his last. “Ten years for me is enough,” said the 33-year-old. “It’s the perfect time for me. Initially, City were talking about two years, but I decided to sign another one, so I finished at ten years.” (Sky Sports)

Barca turn to Lindelof

If Barcelona miss out on signing Matthijs de Ligt from Ajax the Spanish champions could turn their attentions to Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof. (Daily Mail)

Rivals to bid £65m for Maguire 

Manchester rivals United and City are prepared to pay £65m for Leicester centre-back Harry Maguire. It’s understood that both clubs have been in talks with Leicester for several weeks but as yet “a deal is no closer to being agreed”. (Sky Sports News)

Rafa Benitez’s departure from Newcastle United could spark a player exodus at St James’ Park. According to reports striker Ayoze Perez, goalkeeper Martin Dubravka and defenders Fabian Schar and Federico Fernandez could leave the Toon. (The Sun)

Palace want Mignolet

The London Evening Standard reports that Crystal Palace are interested in making an £8m move for Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet. However, ESPN says Liverpool do not intend on selling the Belgian for that amount. 

Gomes signs for Everton

Andre Gomes has completed a £22m transfer from Barcelona to Everton. The 25-year-old Portugal international said: “It wasn’t hard to decide, it was an easy decision and I’m very happy to have made it.” (Sky Sports)

Gunners to make new bid for Tierney

After seeing their initial £15m bid for Kieran Tierney rejected by Celtic Arsenal will return with an improved £19m offer for the Scotland international. The 22-year-old is Unai Emery’s No.1 left-back target. (Daily Mail)

Pepe reports ‘pure lies’

It’s been claimed in France that Liverpool are in talks with Lille over a transfer for forward Nicolas Pepe. However, the Champions League winners have denied the reports, calling them “pure lies”. (ESPN)
