Antoine Griezmann fuels speculation about Arsenal’s Alexandre Lacazette
Premier League transfer gossip and rumours
Lacazette to leave?
Antoine Griezmann has fuelled speculation that Barcelona could be poised to lure Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette to the Camp Nou.
The Daily Mail reports that Griezmann, who has just signed for Barcelona from Atletico Madrid, was asked in an interview which player he admires.
“I would love to play with Lacazette,” he said of his French international team-mate. “He’s a friend of mine, we played together in the national team. He’s an amazing player, has a lot of talent.”
The possibility of Lacazette signing for Barca could hinge on whether the Spanish champions succeed in their bid to entice Neymar back to the club after he left for Paris Saint-Germain in 2017.
Double deal for Gunners?
Arsenal’s head of football, Raul Sanllehi, has left the squad’s pre-season tour of America to return to the UK in order to “complete deals for two players”.
The two players in question are Real Madrid’s Dani Ceballos, who is likely to join on loan to fill the void left in the midfield by Aaron Ramsey, and Celtic defender Kieran Tierney.
Scottish left-back Tierney will cost the Gunners £25m “but the club are looking at ways to pay less cash up front and the rest in bonuses and installments”. (Daily Mirror)
It’s reported that Arsenal have in fact already tied up a loan deal for Ceballos, what it describes as a “morale-boosting victory” over Tottenham, who were also chasing the Real Madrid ace. Speaking from the USA, Arsenal boss Unai Emery said of his new acquisition: “Ceballos is a very good player. I know him from Betis at the beginning and Real Madrid.” (The Sun)
Double deal for Spurs?
Are Tottenham close to sealing deals for Ryan Sessegnon and Giovani Lo Celso? Reports claim that Spurs are “gearing up to spend another £80m this week” in the double signing.
Apparently Real Betis have signalled their willingness to strike a deal for Lo Celso after the midfielder made it clear he wanted to leave for London.
As for 19-year-old Sessegnon, Spurs are close to landing the teenager after “a breakthrough in talks with Fulham”. As a result, Tottenham will shell out around £20m plus add-ons. (Daily Star)
Juve prepared to sell Dybala
Italian champions Juventus are willing to sell Paulo Dybala this summer. Manchester United have been linked with the Argentine forward and Juve will demand between £70m and £90m for the 25-year-old. (Daily Mail)
United favourites for Fernandes
Manchester United are odds-on to sign Bruno Fernandes as Liverpool’s “hopes drift”. Champions League winners Liverpool were at one time favourites to sign the 24-year-old Portuguese international, but that mantle now rests with United after they indicated to Sporting they are ready to pay whatever it takes to bring the playmaker to Old Trafford. Pogba deal depends on Bale
If Real Madrid are to continue their pursuit of Manchester United star Paul Pogba then any move will depend on Gareth Bale’s exit from the Spanish giants. (AS)
City deny Bayern Sane claims
Manchester City have dismissed Bayern Munich’s claim that the two clubs are in discussion over a £100m deal for Leroy Sane. A City senior source said: “We are not in negotiations with Bayern over Sane. We are talking to him about a new contract and not looking to sell.” (Daily Mirror)
Toby to stay at Tottenham?
Spurs defender Toby Alderweireld has indicated that he will remain with the club despite interest from AS Roma. A £25m buy-out clause in Alderweireld’s contract expires on Thursday and the 30-year-old said: “It [a club triggering the clause] can happen but my focus is on Spurs and in my head I will be playing for Spurs.” (The Daily Telegraph)
