Premier League transfer news: Alexis, Ozil, Eriksen, Matic, Monreal, Abraham

Will Alexis Sanchez stay or leave Man Utd after Anthony Martial’s injury?

Premier League transfer gossip and rumours

Alexis’s future is up in the air

There are conflicting reports regarding the future of Manchester United flop Alexis Sanchez.

According to The Sun, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has let it be known that the Chilean can be “shipped out for the right price” with Inter Milan ready to take him on loan.

However, The Guardian has a different take on the long-running saga, claiming that the injury suffered by Anthony Martial in the 2-1 defeat against Crystal Palace on Saturday could lead to Sanchez staying at Old Trafford.

French frontman Martial is undergoing scans and Solskjaer will make a decision this week about whether to farm out Sanchez.

Matic seeks talks

The Daily Mirror reports that Man Utd midfielder Nemanja Matic has “demanded showdown talks” with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after losing his place in the Old Trafford team.

Matic, 31, has yet to feature in any match so far this season with Solskjaer preferring youngster Scott McTominay.

Endgame for Ozil?

The Daily Express is one of several papers to report that Mesut Ozil is on the brink of leaving Arsenal.

His omission from the squad that lost 3-1 to Liverpool on Saturday is described by the Express as a “snub” and apparently it’s the last straw for the playmaker.

Plagued again by illness this season, Ozil is increasingly viewed as an expensive liability and Gunners gaffer Unai Emery is not “keen” on the German as a starter in his team.

That doesn’t sit well with the World Cup winner and his people have allegedly been in the USA in recent days to try and negotiate a move to D.C. United in Washington.

However, according to the Daily Mail, via Turkish Football, Ozil’s agent Dr Erkut Sogut insists his client will remain at the north London club.

Monreal back to Spain

Real Sociedad have agreed terms with Arsenal for Nacho Monreal, according to Spanish outlet Noticias de Gipuzkoa

In reporting the claim, Inside Futbol says the Arsenal defender is “keen” on a return to his homeland and that enthusiasm is reciprocated by Sociedad.

The La Liga side is working hard to achieve the move before the European window closes on 2 September, and it’s reported the two clubs are “finalising the last few details”.

The deal will see Monreal sign a two-year contract with an option for a further 12 months. According to The Sun, the Gunners will demand a “nominal fee of around £3m” for their longest-serving first-team regular.

Tammy’s new deal

The Daily Telegraph says that Chelsea are set to offer Tammy Abraham a new contract. The 21-year-old, who scored twice in Saturday’s 3-2 win at Norwich, has a deal with three years left to run but the Blues are prepared to open negotiations over new terms.

Chelsea could offer the striker £100,000-a-week - which is double his current wage at Stamford Bridge.

Eriksen edges towards exit

Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that Christian Eriksen may have played his last game for Tottenham, reports The Sun

The 27-year-old Dane has been linked to Real Madrid throughout the summer and with his contract expiring next June, it’s believed Spurs have decided to cash in on the playmaker before the European transfer window closes next Monday.

Eriksen came off the bench on Sunday but was unable to prevent Spurs slipping to a shock 1-0 defeat at home to Newcastle United.

According to the Sun the Spurs board is “afraid of losing the star for just £30m”, despite his valuation being twice that figure.

Asked if Eriksen will play for the club again, Pochettino said: “I don’t know. It’s so difficult. Some situations we cannot fix, we knew that a situation like this could happen. It’s difficult to handle. What can we do?”

But the Daily Mirror warns that Eriksen is “in limbo” with neither Real or Barcelona showing any interest in making a swoop for him, and Spurs adamant that their recent £200,000-a-week contract extension is their final offer.
