Leicester City are three points clear at the top of the Premier League after a weekend of dramatic action which saw Liverpool win a nine-goal thriller, Manchester United lose at Old Trafford and Arsenal implode against Chelsea yet again.

Indeed, Leicester and Tottenham Hotspurs were the only two teams in the top six to win this week as Manchester City were held by West Ham.

But who were the stars of the show? Here's The Week's pick of the weekend's picks:

Goalkeeper: Joe Hart (Man City)

There were several contenders for the number one jersey but the Man City man gets the nod thanks to what Harry Redknapp, writing in the Daily Telegraph, calls the "the save of the season". The England man flew high to his left to stop a brilliant free kick in the match against West Ham and it could have earned his side a critical point.

"Hart has been the constant performer in a defence that, without Vincent Kompany's leadership, has been all over the place," says Garth Crooks of the BBC.

Defence: Branislav Ivanovic (Chelsea), Patrick van Aanholt (Sunderland), Ashley Williams (Swansea)

Chelsea appear to be rediscovering their quality and the return to form of Ivanovic, at both ends of the pitch, has played an important part. "The right-back provided a sublime cross for Diego Costa’s winning goal and was solid defensively," says Goal.com.

"Another game, another vital goal for relegation-threatened Sunderland," writes the Daily Star of Van Aanholt, who netted the equaliser for Sunderland against Bournemouth to earn his side a point.

The back three is rounded off by Williams of Swansea. He will be a key man for new boss Francesco Guidolin, says ESPN, and "was imperious in the Swans' 2-1 success at Everton on Sunday". He also gets the nod from Ian Wright in The Sun after clocking up "a massive 15 clearances" at Goodison Park.

Midfield: Danny Drinkwater (Leicester City), Dele Alli (Spurs), Andre Ayew (Swansea), Cesc Fabregas (Chelsea), Dimitri Payet (West Ham).

Man United reject Drinkwater has become a surprise contender for a spot in England's Euro 2016 squad, says website The Offside Rule, and he "was sensational again in Leicester’s 3-0 win over Stoke City, scoring one and assisting another".

The man who stole this week's headlines was, once again, Spurs prodigy Alli, who scored a sensational solo goal against Crystal Palace, flicking the ball over his head to wrong-foot the defence before firing home from 25 yards. "The Spurs teenager is playing as well as any midfielder in the Premier League at present and his strike in the victory at Crystal Palace was the goal of the season so far," says ESPN. The BBC's Garth Crooks agrees. "Spurs have unearthed a gem in Alli," he says.

Swansea midfielder Ayew earned the Welsh club a vital three points against Everton. "The winger was lively throughout and capped his display by scoring the winning goal," says Goal.com.

Former Arsenal midfielder Fabregas was back at the Emirates and the visit appeared to do him good. "The Spaniard looked a bit more like his former self as he ran the show in central midfield against his former club," says Goal.com.

West Ham playmaker Payet may have been denied a goal against Man City by the reflexes of Hart, but "his flair and creativity is something every team craves", says Ian Wright in the Sun. And once again, Garth Crooks of the BBC approves of the choice. He "has all the creative flair of a Cantona", enthuses the pundit.

Attack: Roberto Firmino (Liverpool), Sergio Aguero (Man City)

Firmino "is a man unleashed under Jurgen Klopp", says ESPN. "After showing flashes of brilliance earlier in the season, the Brazilian now has four goals and an assist in his last three matches." His two goals and an assist against Norwich also make him the top Fantasy Premier League points-scorer this week and a unanimous pick for team of the week.

The final berth goes to City striker Aguero. "The Argentine has blown hot and cold this season, but currently is showing his normal assassin-like coolness in front of goal," says Garth Crooks of the BBC. He was on target two times as City twice came from behind against West Ham.
