Maguire to sign new Leicester contract

England World Cup star Harry Maguire is close to signing a new £75,000-a-week contract at Leicester City.

According to The Daily Telegraph, the 25-year-old and the Foxes are in “advanced talks” over a new deal. The club is thought to be “hopeful” of reaching a resolution later this month.

After impressing at the World Cup in Russia, Maguire was linked with a big-money transfer to Manchester United. But a move failed to materialise after Leicester declared he wasn’t for sale.

Godin: I did not use United

Another Manchester United target in the transfer window was Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin. It’s claimed that the Uruguay international’s agent used United’s interest to secure a new deal at Atletico, a claim Godin rejects. The 32-year-old says he turned down a move to United for “personal reasons” and hasn’t agreed a new contract with Atletico. (Sky Sports)

Barca to monitor Pogba

Barcelona admit that Paul Pogba is a talented player, but they won’t be making a bid for the Manchester United and France midfielder this summer. Barca director Ariedo Braida said: “I don’t think we’re going to move for Pogba, but he’s a great player.” (Daily Mirror)

Sessegnon’s Fulham focus

Ryan Sessegnon is focussed on Fulham despite speculation he could leave Craven Cottage. The teenager, who has been linked with Tottenham, said: “You always see little bits and bobs when teams are linked with you, but I was always staying focused on playing for Fulham. That’s my main focus – just getting my head down and playing for Fulham.” (Sky Sports)

Aurier almost joined Atletico

He only signed for Tottenham a year ago but it’s reported that Serge Aurier was on the verge of moving to Atletico Madrid this summer before the deal collapsed. German club Borussia Dortmund have also been linked with the former PSG defender who joined Spurs for £23m. (The Sun)

Schalke rule out moves for Rose and Loftus-Cheek

Tottenham left-back Danny Rose and Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek have been linked with loan moves to Schalke, but according to reports the German club are not interested in the England duo. (Sky Sports)

United keen to keep Darmian and Rojo

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho wants Matteo Darmian and Marcos Rojo to stay at Old Trafford, but is prepared to let the defensive duo decide “where they want to play this season”. Italian Darmian is linked with Juventus, Napoli and Inter Milan, while Turkish club Fenerbahce are interested in a loan deal for Rojo. (ESPN)

Simon Mignolet: Liverpool to Napoli

Belgian goalkeeper Simon Mignolet is expected to leave Liverpool and sign for Italian club Napoli this week. The Italian transfer window closes on Friday. (The Guardian)

Joel Campbell: Arsenal to Frosinone Calcio

Another player who could be heading to Italy is Arsenal forward Joel Campbell. The Costa Rica international looks set to sign a three-year contract with Serie A new boys Frosinone Calcio. (Daily Star)

Juan Mata: Manchester United to Valencia

Spanish midfielder Juan Mata may return to his homeland next summer when his Manchester United contract expires. The 30-year-old is linked with an “emotional return” to former club Valencia. (The Sun)

Zaha signs new Palace deal

Crystal Palace have confirmed that striker Wilfried Zaha has signed a contract extension until 2023. (Sky Sports)
