The transfer window closes today in a number of countries

It’s deadline day in Scotland, Russia, Germany, France and Spain with their transfer windows slamming shut this evening.  

While the transfer window for incoming players has closed for England’s top flight and in Italy, players can still be sold or loaned out. English Football League clubs can also sign players on loan until 5pm.

Pogba to stay… for now

Barcelona won’t make a move to sign Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba before today’s deadline - however, they are confident of signing him next year, the Daily Express reports. According to Spanish outlet Don Balon, Pogba is keen on the Camp Nou and would reject a move to Real Madrid.

Chelsea turned down Fekir

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas says Chelsea turned down the opportunity to sign Nabil Fekir. The French attacker’s move to Liverpool fell through earlier this summer. (Daily Mail

Ademola Lookman: Everton to RB Leipzig

Everton are keen to keep Ademola Lookman despite interest from RB Leipzig. It’s reported that the German side are willing to pay £25m for the 20-year-old English winger. (Liverpool Echo)

Lazar Markovic: Liverpool to PAOK

Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic is expected to sign for Greek side PAOK on a loan deal. (Daily Mirror)

Tammy Abraham: Chelsea to Aston Villa/Celtic

Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham is a wanted man. The Sun reports that Championship club Aston Villa are hoping to tie up a loan deal for the 20-year-old while the Independent says Celtic are interested.

Celtic turn down Dembele bid

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers confirmed that the Scottish champions have turned down a “significant offer” for Moussa Dembele. French side Lyon are claimed to have made the offer. The 22-year-old is unhappy the move has been blocked. (Sky Sports)

Dominic Solanke: Liverpool to Rangers

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is hoping to sign Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke on loan before the transfer window closes at midnight. (HITC)

Modric ‘happy at Real’

He’s been linked with a move to Inter Milan but Luka Modric wants to stay at Real Madrid. The Croatian was named Uefa player of the year at yesterday’s Champions League draw and he said: “I am very happy at Real Madrid. I want to stay at this club for many years to come.” (Football Italia)

Paulo Dybala: Juventus to Real Madrid

It would be a sensational deadline day deal but reports of Paulo Dybala moving from Juventus to Real Madrid for €180m (£161m) have been dismissed by Italian outlet ​Sport Mediaset. (90min

Jerome Boateng: Bayern Munich to Paris

Bayern Munich have reportedly turned down a €40m (£35.8m) bid from Paris Saint-Germain for Germany defender Jerome Boateng. Bayern want a fee of €50m (£44.8m). (ESPN via Welt)

When do the European transfer windows close?

The transfer deadline is today in Scotland, Germany, Russia, France and Spain. Portugal’s transfer window is open until 21 September.

Here are the deadline times: 

  • 5pm: Germany 
  • 10pm: Russia 
  • 11pm: France and Spain 
  • Midnight: Scotland
EFL loan deals

English Football League clubs have until 5pm today to complete loan deals.
