Premier League transfer news and rumours

Adrien Rabiot: Paris Saint-Germain to Liverpool

ESPN reports that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is lining up a move to sign PSG midfielder Adrien Rabiot on a free transfer.

Rabiot is in the final year of his contract at the French champions and Klopp, a long-term admirer, has reportedly spoken with the 23-year-old to discuss a potential move.

Barcelona have also been linked with Rabiot but in October last year he revealed in a radio interview that he grew up supporting the Reds. Rabiot told RMC: “I would love to play in the Premier League, not necessarily one club in particular, even though I was very fond of Liverpool when I was young.”

Vertonghen expects Spurs extension

Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen believes the club will trigger a clause in his contract and extend his stay until 2020. The Belgian’s current deal expires at the end of the season but Spurs have the option to extend it a further year. Vertonghen said: “I think they will take up the option. We’ll see what happens.” (Evening Standard)

Pogba ‘won’t push for January exit’

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba won’t try to force an exit from Old Trafford and is expected to stay until at least next summer. The French World Cup winner has been linked with Barcelona and Juventus. (Daily Mirror)

Frenkie de Jong: Ajax to Barcelona

Reports in Spain say that Ajax star Frenkie de Jong will sign for Barcelona next summer for €50m (£45m). The 21-year-old is also a target for Tottenham, Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund. (Sky Sports via Mundo Deportivo)

Luke Matheson: Rochdale to Liverpool/Manchester United

Premier League rivals Liverpool and Manchester United are interested in Rochdale starlet Luke Matheson. The 15-year-old made his Rochdale debut on Tuesday evening and was man-of-the-match against Bury. On Tuesday morning he returned to school after the summer holidays to begin year 11. (Daily Mail)

Fulham to offer Bettinelli new deal

Fulham are keen to tie goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli to a new contract. The 26-year-old was yesterday added to the England squad for the matches against Spain and Switzerland and has been linked with London rivals West Ham and Crystal Palace. (The Sun)
