Dominic Raab faced a grilling from MPs this week over his handling of the Afghanistan crisis, as insiders predicted that he will be “toast” in the next Cabinet reshuffle.

The foreign secretary has faced repeated calls for his resignation since the Taliban took control of Kabul last month, with Labour accusing Raab of being “missing in action” after it emerged that he was on holiday in Crete when the Afghan capital fell.
