Lynk & Co unveils 03 sports saloon concept
Users will be able to access car via a subscription system and 'lend' it to their friends, reports say
Chinese start-up Lynk & Co has revealed its second production car, the 03 concept, ahead of this week's Shanghai Motor Show.
The sports saloon draws several design cues from the company's 01 variant, a "compact crossover" set to lead the brand's global assault, says AutoExpress.
Details are scarce, but the 03 concept is expected to share the same Volvo-developed compact modular architecture as its 01 sibling. The platform also serves as the underpinnings of Volvo's upcoming XC40 SUV.
Inside, the saloon looks set to feature the SUV's Microsoft and Alibaba-designed infotainment system, "with built-in car sharing support", says Engadget. That would allow users to "lend" their car to others via a smartphone companion app.
There's no word on what will power the Lynk & Co 03, but Engadget says its twin-exhaust layout suggests a hybrid engine could be available, with an all-electric unit featuring towards the higher end of the range.
Much like the 01 SUV, the 03 will "have an always-on data connection" to allow developers to "tinker with the car's software thanks to an open API (application programming interface)", says The Verge.
Buyers can also purchase the car through a subscription system, it adds, details of which will be revealed at a later date.
Lynk & Co will announce more information on the 03 when its makes its public debut at the Shanghai Motor Show, which runs from 21 to 28 April.
