1. F1 car flown to home of terminally-ill boy

The Mercedes Formula 1 team delivered one of their cars to the Surrey home of a terminally-ill boy dubbed a “spirit angel” by reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton.

Five-year-old Harry Shaw from Redhill sent a good luck message to Hamilton ahead of last weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix. British driver Hamilton went on to win in Barcelona and dedicated his victory to the young fan.

Harry’s mother Charlotte Shaw told the BBC: “It’s brought smiles into his life at a time when there’s a limited amount of fun to be had, to be perfectly honest.”

At the end of April Harry was given just a week to live after a nine-month battle against Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare bone cancer.

The family have so far raised more than £64,000 for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity via the Harry’s Giant Pledge page.

2. City facing Champions League ban

The odds of Manchester City being banned from the Champions League for alleged breaches of Uefa’s Financial Fair Play rules are growing, according to reports. The Times says that officials investigating the case “will push for a suspension of one season” if they can prove a story first covered in German magazine Der Spiegel that a £59.5m sponsorship deal in 2015 was paid directly by the club’s owners, the Abu Dhabi United Group, instead of from Etihad Airways. 3. Dybala and Alexis to swap clubs?

Among the players that could leave Manchester United this summer is forward Alexis Sanchez. Reports suggest that United want to strike a deal with Juventus that would see Alexis move to Turin and Paulo Dybala head to Old Trafford. 4. Thomas ruled out of the PGA

American golfer Justin Thomas has been ruled out of this week’s PGA Championship major because of a wrist injury. The 26-year-old, who won the event in 2017, said on Twitter: “Unfortunately, I will be withdrawing from the 101st PGA Championship at Bethpage Black this week as my wrist is not yet fully healed. Obviously, as a past champion, this tournament is extra special to me. It consistently has the strongest field in golf and I’m disappointed to not be among those competing this year, but I’m optimistic about a return in the near future.”

5. Lakers appoint new head coach

Frank Vogel has been named the new head coach of NBA giants the Los Angeles Lakers. In a statement he said: “I am very excited for this opportunity to join the Lakers, a prestigious organisation that I have long admired. I look forward to coaching such phenomenal talent and bringing my strategic vision to the team.”

6. Roy ready for World Cup

England opening batsman Jason Roy is a “million miles better now” after his fitness nightmare and is ready for the Cricket World Cup. Roy, who suffered a hamstring injury on the tour of the West Indies, told the Daily Mail: “I was in a bad place and got dropped, rightly so. I’m a million miles better now.” England play Pakistan today in a one-day international at the Bristol County Ground (1pm start).

7. Robertson: Reds are here to stay

Liverpool may have missed out on the Premier League title but left-back Andy Robertson has told champions Manchester City that the Merseyside club will battle them again next season. The Scotland captain told the BBC: “Man City know, hopefully, we are here to stay. We know they are definitely here to stay, they are incredible. Fingers-crossed we don’t lose anyone. We will go into next season as strong as ever. Whether we can put in the performances remains to be seen but we hope we can.”

8. Semenya to appeal

The Daily Telegraph reports that the South African government will launch an appeal against Caster Semenya’s “landmark ruling” that enforces the athlete to take testosterone-reducing drugs.

9. Fury feud with Joshua continues

Tyson Fury’s war of words with British boxing rival Anthony Joshua has stepped up a level, says The Guardian. Fury has told heavyweight champion Joshua to “grow a set of nuts” and to prove himself in the ring.

10. Wallace’s nightmare media day

Poor old Matt Wallace. The English golfer had a nightmare when taking part in a media day to promote the BMW International Open, a tournament where he is the defending champion.
