The seven best tech gifts for Star Wars fans this Christmas

From remote-controlled drones to Darth Vader luxury watches, here are the best movie-inspired gadgets

The second movie in the latest Star Wars trilogy officially launches on Friday and with it comes a wave of gadgets and memorabilia for fans to collect.

Several of these would make ideal Christmas presents for tech heads who love the Star Wars films. Here are seven of the best:

1. LittleBits Droid Inventor Kit

This robot creator kit is no ordinary remote controlled R2-D2 model. The kit helps users build their own droid by snapping together electronic blocks to create an electric circuit that powers the robot. Users can then programme the droid using their smartphone, allowing them to use it as a remote control device and take part in mission available on a free app.

The kit can be ordered from Amazon for £99.99.

2. Propel Star Wars Drones – £149

Fans can now live out their fantasy of piloting one of the space crafts from Star Wars as gadget maker Propel is offering a range of drones inspired by ships from the movies. These include Luke Skywalker’s X-Wing fighter, Darth Vader’s Tie Advanced X1 and a speeder bike from Return of the Jedi.

These can be found at John Lewis for £149 each.

3. Death Trooper Speaker – £299

Those wanting to combine their love of Star Wars and music need look no further, as there’s an officially licensed Bluetooth speaker inspired by the Death Troopers from last year’s Rogue One movie. The speaker emits different sound effects from the film when it’s powered on and even comes with a certificate of authenticity.

It can be found at Zavvi for £299.99.

4. Lego Millennium Falcon UCS – £650

One of the most popular ships in the Star Wars universe has been given the Lego treatment once again. The £650 Ultimate Collector Series Millennium Falcon is the company’s biggest set to date, consisting of 7,541 pieces and seven mini figures. You can either build the model to resemble the Falcon from the original trilogy or from the newer movies.

It’s currently out of stock, but Lego says it expects to have more on sale soon.

5. Battlefront II – £45
Star Wars Battlefront 2

Despite recent controversy around micro-transactions, where players spend real-world money to unlock in-game items, Star Wars: Battlefront II’s core gameplay has been widely praised by critics. The Daily Telegraph says the online shooter is “bigger and better”, thanks to a greater number of maps to play on and “more varied objectives within them.”

It’s available on Amazon for PC, PS4 and Xbox One for around £45.

6. Nvidia Titan XP Star Wars Collector’s Edition – £999

PC gamers looking to upgrade their computer to run Battlefront at the highest graphical settings may want to consider Nvidia’s Star Wars-inspired Titan XP graphics card. Buyers can choose between light side or dark side themed cards, which feature green and red highlights respectively.

Each version costs £999 and can be ordered directly from Nvidia’s website

7. Devon Star Wars watch – $19,999

This Star Wars-themed timepiece takes design elements from Darth Vader and the Empire’s Tie Fighter ships that are prominent in the original trilogy films. The watch comes with a “diamond-like carbon coating” on its stainless steel chassis, while the crown has the Imperial Logo engraved on it.

It can be ordered from the online retailer Watches for $19,999 (£15,500) depending on availability.
