Alfa Romeo GTV 2022: leaked images, specs, prices and release date
Sleek two-door supercar will feature 600bhp V6 engine
An image of Alfa Romeo’s upcoming GTV supercar has been leaked online, well ahead of the new model’s official unveiling next year.
The picture, posted by Italian motoring site Club Alfa, shows a two-door supercar with a silhouette similar to those of the Maserati GranTurismo and Ferrari Portofino.
The GTV appears to have the same wheels and deep red paint as the Giulia Quadrifoglio saloon, with a thin LED tail light cluster that seems to have been taken from the company’s Stelvio SUV.
According to Autocar, the car in the leaked image closely matches a concept sketch that was released last June by the Fiat Chrysler Association (FCA), Alfa’s parent company.
The supercar will reboot the company’s historic GTV name, which hasn’t been used since production of the previous-generation GTV coupe ended in 2005.
The new model isn’t expected to hit the showrooms until 2022, but a series of leaks have revealed some of the car’s key details.
When does the new GTV launch?
Alfa Romeo is expected to take the wraps off the supercar in 2021, with sales kicking off the following year, says Autocar.
How much will it cost?
Given that the supercar is expected to be a two-door version of the Giulia saloon, the GTV should be “offered for a more affordable price point” than similar models from sister company Ferrari, says Canadian motoring site Driving.
The current Giulia Quadrifoglio has a price tag of around £60,000, so expect the GTV to cost anywhere between £5,000 and £15,000 more than that.
What engine will it have?
The GTV is tipped to use the same 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine found in the Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio, says Evo.
However, the motor will undergo a number of upgrades to boost the supercar’s power output to 600bhp, according to the magazine.
Like the Stelvio, power will be sent to all-four wheels, which should take the new supercar from zero to 62mph in less than four seconds.
