An orange-level breaking news alert heralded Brad and Angelina's wedding. Twitter, as usual, made jokes

Amid the squeals of enthusiasm and flutterings of eyelashes from fans around the world, the wits of Twitter reacted to news of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's wedding in typically wry style.

The news came through as an orange-level breaking news alert from the Associated Press, signalling its great importance.

Some Tweeters instantly recognised the gravity of the alert.

tough to say which breaking news from this morning is more important: economic growth being revised up to 4.2% or Brad and Angelina

But others thought the marriage might be a little hasty.

Some were so overcome with emotion, they went completely numb.
