UFOs visited Rolling Stones three times

And other stories from the stranger side of life

Mick Jagger

The broadcaster Jo Wood says she was visited by aliens during her years touring with the Rolling Stones. The  former wife of band member Ronnie Wood said the first UFO she saw was when she was with the guitarist in Brazil in 1998. During a tour in France, she adds, “a bunch of us saw something zoom past in the sky” but Mick Jagger thought it was a satellite. On a tour plane flying over South America in the late 1990s she saw a “fluorescent green orb appear out of nowhere, come up to our window, move down the side of the plane and then disappear”.

Supermarket substitutes calculators for pasta

A maths teacher who ordered calculators from Morrisons was sent seven chicken and bacon pasta bakes instead. Alison Jagger shared the story on Twitter, writing: “When you order seven calculators from @morrisons and they send you seven chicken and bacon pasta bakes instead as a substitution?” The official account for the chain responded: “Ermmm, wow. I'm not sure how this happened.” She has been refunded and was allowed to keep the bakes.

Corrie uses doubles for kissing scene

Coronation Street has used body doubles for kissing scenes to adhere to social distancing guidelines, it has emerged. When the characters Tyrone and Alina kissed, actors Alan Halsall and Ruxandra Porojnicu were not the ones performing the soapy smooch. Regular extra Alex Mulvaney and his wife Hannah stepped in for the romantic moment. “Hannah was nervous at first, but she is a big Coronation Street fan,” said Alex.
