Video: Team GB snowboarder Billy Morgan tames the Beast from the East
Winter Olympic bronze medallist Morgan and freeskier Paddy Graham hit the slopes in Essex
After winning a bronze medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics, Team GB snowboarder Billy Morgan would be forgiven for putting his feet up now that he’s back in the UK.
But with the so-called Beast from the East bringing snow and wintry conditions to the British Isles, Morgan is getting in some extra practice time on his board.
The slopestyle and big air star was joined by freeskier Paddy Graham in taking advantage of the icy blast to hold a mini winter games in Essex yesterday.
Red Bull athlete Morgan said he was delighted to be back on his board in the UK. He told the Red Bull website: “It’s nuts, I haven’t ridden any snow in the UK since ten years ago! It was really cool, I’m glad Paddy could come down and shred with me. It was good fun.”
Snowboarding on the “slopes” of Essex is certainly less demanding than the training Morgan had to do for PyeongChang. He added: “It’s completely different, you know, we just kind of messed around and had fun, which was really refreshing, because for a long while I’ve always gone up on the hill and I’m training, but today it was about cruising around and having fun.”
